Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week we're discussing the top reasons why we love being a blogger or a reader. I decided to list the reasons behind both why I love being a reader and why I love being a (book) blogger.
I love being a reader because books:
Are my favorite form of entertainment
Allow to me be anyone, to go anywhere, and to learn tons of new things in the process
Provide me with inspiration for my writing
Give me a better grasp of language and expand my vocabulary (What can I say? I love words)
Are the best way to de-stress at the end of the day
I love being a (book) blogger because blogging allows me to:
Interact with fellow book lovers
Be in the know with regard to book trends, upcoming book publications, and book deals
Have an incentive to think critically about literature
Gain a greater awareness (and appreciation) of the publishing process
Engage in analytical, critical writing about literature
Bonus:
I love how both of these hobbies allow me to introduce others to potential new favorite books. Because, really, I want everyone to love all the books.
This is perhaps not my most exciting Top Ten Tuesday post, but this topic is near and dear to my heart. Being a reader and being a book blogger puts me closer to one of my main passions in life: being a writer. Nothing communicates to me as well to me as stories do, after all.
Do you feel the same way? Please let me know why you love being a reader, being a blogger, or being both.
YES! To the entire first list. Though I'm not as much as a writer as you, thinking, writing about and discussing books has definitely strengthened my critical thinking skills. Plus I just LOVE to get invested into the world of a book. It is for sure my #1 stress reliever.
ReplyDeleteYES to the second set of likes as well. I just love being involved in this book blogging community. I feel very much at home here, surrounded by people who understand my love of books and read as much or more than I do. I think this is an excellent way to do your TTT!!
Your list is really excellent but I think I love your bonus the best! I want people to love all the books too - I'd love for them to love the same ones I do, but as long as they are long SOMETHING that is excellent. I chose to do my list completely as a reader but I did include that I love reading because I can blog about it. My top reason was that I can escape to whatever place I may be reading at that moment, because I read to escape before I ever began blogging. I think I could have listed way more than ten reasons for this one.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy interacting with people too. I think that has been the most fun for me blogging. Comments just make my day. You know you have reached someone reading your post, and they want to join in the conversation and talk about things!! So fun!!

Great picks :) I love all of your reasons and definitely agree. I love being able to share my favourite books and talking to others about them. My TTT
ReplyDeleteI love this topic and seeing everyone's reasons for being a reader and blogger.

I absolutely agree, Amanda! I love that reading is such a pleasant de-stressor and that I love it and anticipate it as much as I do. Moreover, though, I love the blogging community with its strong friendships and being so up-to-date about publications is a definite perk. Plus, like you mentioned, thinking critically about literature, even YA, is such a valuable skill and has expanded the way I look at and read a novel too. Fantastic Top Ten post this week, dear! :)
