Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week we're essentially listing our top ten bookish locations. We were given latitude over whether to choose real or fictional places, so I chose to select five in these two subcategories.
Real Destinations from Books:
Tarpon Springs, Florida from Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller
Paris from The Chocolate Thief by Laura Florand
Central America from Wanderlove by Kirstin Hubbard
North Star, Texas from Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer
Prague from Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor
Fictional Destinations from Books:
The Realms from the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray
Tortall from the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce
Lyra's Oxford from His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman
The wizarding world from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Middle-earth from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
Please let me know what bookish destinations you'd love to visit!
Oh, Lyra's Oxford!!! I love those books, and would love to visit her world. My daughter is a huge fan of the Tortall books, which I suppose I should read (and then go visit!) Nice list!

I actually visited Prague a few years ago, and its awesome when you can see descriptions from the books in real life! I also so wanted to go backpacking across central America after I read Wanderlove and Paris would be another gorgeous place to visit too! Fab top ten Amanda! :)
ReplyDeleteParis was on my list. Hogwarts should have been.

I've seen the Realms on a lot of different lists today, it surprised me a little. But it would be pretty amazing!

Paris and Prague are, without a doubt, two real-life locations authors have made me want to visit. (Though, I must say, I often doubt whether I want to visit Paris or just the yummy chocolatiers Florand writes about...) I'd also love to visit the forests Stiefvater writes of in her Shiver trilogy--they sound so beautiful. Middle Earth and Hogwarts are definitely on my fictional worlds list as well as Kristin Cashore's realms and the island of Thisby, flesh-eating horses be damned. ;)
ReplyDeleteLyra's Oxford and The Realms. YES.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Laura Florand, right?! I've actually been to Paris when I was much younger, and didn't really enjoy it, but her books make me want to go back and see it through new eyes!
