Bout of Books 9.0

It’s that time again: time for another Bout of Books, and I’m definitely ready for it. By the time this posts, hopefully I’ll already have started my first book. I’m considering this to be my last huge read-a-thon before I start slowing down on my reading somewhat to focus on my writing.

For a recap on what Bout of Books is:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

My reading options for this week include:

“Poison Dance” by Livia Blackburn
Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
Sex & Violence by Carrie Mesrobian
Parallel by Lauren Miller

I’ll be happy if I can even get through three of the novels and the novella, but I’ll see what happens.

Be sure to let me know if you’re participating in the current Bout of Books as well. And for those who are: good luck!

Amanda

Amanda loves few things better than sitting down with a cup of tea and a book. She frequently stays up far too late, telling herself she just needs to finish one more page. When she's not wrapped up in the stories of others, Amanda works as a children's librarian in a public library.

  1. Finnikin of the Rock is just AMAZING and Sex & Violence is quite thought-provoking. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on Parallel and Letters to the Dead, though, especially since I have the latter and am on the fence about picking up that ARC. Good luck, Amanda!

    1. Finnikin's a re-read. It's for a book club, and after finishing I plan on moving onto Froi and Quintana. :)
I'm currently in the middle of Sex & Violence. It's a very different sort of read, but it's kept me captivated so far.
I'll be sure to let you know about Parallel and Love Letters to the Dead.
      Thanks, Keertana!

  4. I've never done one of these challenges, mostly because my life really can't support me reading more than I already do. But I love that you're challenging yourself to read all of those. I hope you fall as hard for Finnikin of the Rock and the entire series as I did! Curious about your thoughts on Poison Dance, and I have Love Letters to read soon too. Hope you have fun and read everything you want this week!

    1. This is just a perfect time when I don't have classes and the evenings are mine to do with them what I will. Since I do want to focus more on writing this year, this is kind of a last hurrah of reading. Or that's what I'd like it to be.
And I enjoyed Finnikin! I read at the beginning of 2012, but reading it again before moving on with the series.
      Thanks, Lauren!
