I'm really looking forward to it, and I've seen mostly rave reviews. It's still clear to me that you really enjoyed it, but it's always nice to get a sense for something that maybe wasn't fully developed or could have been stronger in a book.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05058757489545239601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-20585269475999428902013-09-19T12:13:02.171-05:002013-09-19T12:13:02.171-05:00I am writing my review for this book this weekend ...I am writing my review for this book this weekend so I'm going to come back and check your's out after:) But I LOVED this book IMMENSELY. Still, I thought it was well done overall and obviously we get to have discussions about it, which is always good!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03052456915027241479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-57663647801513691242013-09-15T22:09:24.125-05:002013-09-15T22:09:24.125-05:00Oh, I do agree most people do probably see her tra...Oh, I do agree most people do probably see her transition from life with her mother to life with her father as an ordeal. I do think that Callie's life beforehand was also an ordeal too...tough life she's has thus far! People do try to move past difficult events, but sometimes I think that leads to unhealthy emotional states where you ignore events or just shut down? I mean, Callie never gets that bad, but I just think if I was her family I'd be worried about that possibility. But yes, those issues were definitely minor compared to the book as a whole. Thanks, Keertana!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03052456915027241479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-82046413283616832112013-09-15T22:06:33.521-05:002013-09-15T22:06:33.521-05:00Thanks, Lauren! I had a more difficult time getting over how Callie's family treated her when she came back. I didn't doubt that they loved her, but I felt like they didn't care at all about who she really is and what she went through. It's like they wanted her to be the same as everyone else, but clearly she wasn't and they seemed to have no interest in getting to know her or helping her with something like therapy, like you suggest.Maggie @ Just a Couple More Pageshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10985730765196316941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-32267959957127367262013-09-13T15:09:27.902-05:002013-09-13T15:09:27.902-05:00Hmm, you know, I never thought about the lack of t...Hmm, you know, I never thought about the lack of therapy offered to Callie. I think most people considered her ordeal one where she led a normal life with her mother and was then returned to her father, so I don't think it was too out of place. Also, I think the general consensus usually is that people try to move on past difficult events and I think Callie needed that more than any lingering therapy. I'm really glad you enjoyed the rest of this book, though, Amanda! Great, thoughtful review!Keertanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071392026876644282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-25039685998857255982013-09-13T13:59:36.556-05:002013-09-13T13:59:36.556-05:00This is such a thoughtful review, Amanda! I can definitely imagine that it would be very hard to manage that emotionally. I'm of course a sucker for romance, so I'm glad that you see it in here too. Your question about therapy is good. Whether she would have responded positively to it or not, you'd think that it would be offered right away? But overall, I'm so glad to hear that you connected so well to this story. I'll probably keel the same about the psychological side though I like stuff like trauma and hard pasts/situations to be reflected realistically in someone's state of mind.
