If the movies hadn't come out when they did, "forcing" me to read the books so that I could follow my self-imposed rule of not watching the adaptation until I read the original, I might still not know anything about Middle-earth today! You have a lot of classics here that I am ashamed to admit that not only do I not own them, I've never even read them! Namely Tamora Pierce and Shannon Hale and Juliette Marillier... I really feel like I'm missing out! I should use this list as a reference for series I need to get to!Ayleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07639250102446794830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-57281222646377976922014-07-30T07:09:03.060-05:002014-07-30T07:09:03.060-05:00I swear, J.K. Not surprising, because omg Harry Potter <3 I haven't read any of her Robert Galbraith ones either! Apparently she has six more books planned in that series?

I actually really hope they publish Leigh's folktales together in a single volume as a physical copy- they're so awesome :D

I need to reread Tamora Pierce...I read some of them back in primary school and I do remember enjoying them (Protector of the Small and Song of the Lioness) but I honestly can't really remember anything from them now...Narahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09378806643397167349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-87378682343489660652014-07-30T03:55:16.457-05:002014-07-30T03:55:16.457-05:00A Juliet Marillier fan! I love her Sevenwaters books too, though I'd agree that the original trilogy are much better than the newer ones (I think I've only read the first four or five? Not sure exactly). You should definitely check out Shadowfell - it isn't as wonderful as Daughter of the Forest, but it's worth reading. I enjoyed it.

Funny that you were introduced to Tamora Pierce's books through the second Immortals book, while the first one I read was the second Alanna book! I'm still absolutely in love with her books - the Alanna and Kel series are my favourites, but I'm pretty partial to Daine's books as well. I was sorely disappointed by the Trickster books. Have you read any of her newer books?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12148092068805524581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-28929847762594894202014-07-29T17:16:51.420-05:002014-07-29T17:16:51.420-05:00This is a brilliant list Amanda! I'm glad to see Rae Carson and Megan Whalen Turner on your list too, I can't wait to read their seriesJasprithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11346050783201302967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-38053237931835732142014-07-29T11:47:19.861-05:002014-07-29T11:47:19.861-05:00We share two authors in common on our lists! I was considering adding Lord of the Rings cause I do own two sets and The Silmarillion....but while I own a fair amount of Lord of the Rings books, several of them are not even written by Tolkien, and are fan books, like a bestiary and an encyclopedia. So I decided not to include him. I own books by most of these, except for the David Eddings ones and T.A. Barron. I haven't read any by them actually, but I might have to check them out. And I think I only have two Shannon Hale books. You'll love The Book of a Thousand Days btw! Can't wait to hear what you think about it! Great list, Amanda! :DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4160066904665347291.post-76141089755807965742014-07-29T11:23:04.490-05:002014-07-29T11:23:04.490-05:00I've only read Pierce's Immortals Series s...I've only read Pierce's Immortals Series since I just wasn't drawn to the rest of her quartets, but I know she's a fantasy favorite among many. Like you, I have the most Rowling titles and I have four Marillier physical copies though another eleven (!!) are on my Kindle. I have two sets of LotR too, in addition to The Hobbit and The Silmarillion and Children of Hurin as well, so that makes nine Tolkien books for me and then I have six of George R. R. Martin's books, four of Sanderson's books (on my Kindle, really need to read them already), seven of Stiefvater's books, five of Rachel Neumeier's work, and...the list goes on! You definitely need to finish Carson's trilogy as I looooved it and I only have two of Turner's books--The Queen and King of Attolia--but I probably need to find hardcovers of them since my paperbacks are so worn and though I'll likely never re-read The Thief or Conspiracy of Kings, I want those too. OH, and I have many--though not as many as I'd like!--Marchetta novels too. Loving this week's Top Ten theme so much, Amanda--fantastic post! :DKeertanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071392026876644282noreply@blogger.com
